Biomedical aspects of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate availability
Vitamin B6 (P5P)

Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) is the active coenzyme form of vitamin B6. It supports more than 100 enzymatic reactions in the body, including those involved in healthy neurotransmitter production and red blood cell formation.*
Most supplements use B6 as pyridoxine hydrochloride, which requires conversion before the body can use it. P5P is already active, supporting serotonin, dopamine, and GABA production, along with hemoglobin synthesis.
Uses active P5P, bypassing conversion steps. Supports heart health by playing a role in the regulation of homocysteine (a biomarker for CVD risk) Works synergistically with B12 and folate to optimize methylation pathways.
Chickpeas, bananas, and poultry Fortified cereals Standard B6 supplements (often less bioavailable pyridoxine HCl)
Did You Know?
Your body cannot produce vitamin B6, so you must obtain it from foods or supplements. Vitamin B6 also works in conjunction with B12 and folate, resulting in greater clinical improvement than when given alone.
