Autumn vegetables with harvest basket

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we were inspired to create an emotionally elevating experience for you all to ground into in order to set the tone for a beautiful holiday season ahead. Our intention is to invite you all to participate in the practices within this blog in order to embody gratitude and share this light with others.

We know 2020 has been a tough year for many, and now more than ever is an important time to come together with our communities and share as much love as we possibly can. As we all know, one cannot pour from an empty cup-- so, it’s crucial that we take time out of our busy days to replenish our spirit with sweet rituals and practices that leave us feeling loved and abundant with what is here for us right now.

With all of this being said, one of our favorite fall drinks is a golden milk latte topped with our Golden Mind. Golden milk is a spiced Ayurvedic drink that is great for fighting inflammation, improving digestion, calming the nervous system, and bringing clarity to the mind and emotions. This drink is commonly made at night to soothe and wind the body down before bedtime and is one of our favorites-- plus it’s even safe/delicious for kids!

CYMBIOTIKA GOLDEN MILK RECIPE (serving size: 1)

  • ½ can coconut cream
  • ⅓ cup filtered water
  • 1 ½ tsp organic ground turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ginger powder
  • ¼  teaspoon cardamom powder
  • ¼ tsp monkfruit powder or sweetener of choice (honey, agave)
  • few pinches of salt
  • 14 pumps of golden mind (link to golden mind)

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, heat coconut cream with water until bubbles form on the sides (you do not want to bring it to full boil)
  2. Transfer warm coconut milk to blender
  3. Add in all of your spices (except golden mind) & blend until smooth
  4. Pour into favorite mug & top with 14 pumps of golden mind
  5. Option to sprinkle a little salt and cinnamon on top if you choose :)

If you don’t have a blender, you can always simmer all the ingredients together in the pot and then pour when ready!

After you finish with your drink, we have provided a gratitude practice/meditation that you can partake in before you go to bed (or whenever you choose to do this ritual during your day). This is a beautiful opportunity to connect with how you are feeling and bring awareness to all the things that are going “right” in your life. A heart of gratitude comes from counting our blessings and acknowledging the simple pleasures all around us that make this life so precious. When we connect to this space within us, we allow our spirit to live through the high vibrations of joy, love, and peace.

What you will need:

A quiet/safe space to drop into zen mode

A journal or piece of paper & pen

Candles (optional)

We have provided a 7 minute guided voiceover meditation below along with the entire practice written out.

(insert guided voice meditation or video clip of voiceover)

Meditation:

Find a quiet/safe place to lay down or sit upright in (neither is better or worse, so listen to what your body is asking for!), light some candles or dim the lighting around you, shut off all technology, and get cozy/comfortable.

Begin by gently closing your eyes and relaxing your body. Tune into your breath as you first lay down and pay attention to the rhythm it is moving in.

Now, start to take deep inhales through your nose and exhale anything that wants to leave your system… let it be loud & audible or soft & tender (no matter which one it is, give this energy the space to flow and move through you). After these deep breaths, allow your body to now find its natural breath cycle that it wants to use in this practice.

Grant yourself the opportunity to surrender to this entire experience. Start this by doing a full-body scan from head to toe and pay attention to where you may feel tension arise. Bring breath and possible touch to these parts of your body that may need a little more love during this time. As you acknowledge these feelings, your body will begin to soften and release control.

After you have done this full body scan, place both hands over your heart and direct your energy towards this space. Begin to connect your breath with thoughts of everything you are grateful for. This can look like a mantra such as *inhale: I am grateful for, exhale: (insert subject i.e family, health, food, shelter, etc)*... which is a powerful practice to cultivate inner awareness and love for everything around you. If mantra’s aren’t your thing, simply think of all the things that you have in your life that make you feel grateful and continue to breathe.

Once you feel complete in this practice, give yourself a few moments of stillness while your mind/body implements the serotonin flooding through your system. Bring subtle movement back to your body and open your eyes when you feel ready.

Before heading to bed or starting your day, grab your journal and write down the experience you had during this mediation. It is important to recall the things you were grateful for on paper so that you can go back and read them if you’re ever feeling in a low place.

We hope this experience serves you in a beautiful way and we appreciate you dedicating the time to your self care practice. Let us know what you think in the comment box below and/or share with us on social media by tagging cymbiotika in a photo of your golden milk, or writing about your reflections after participating in this experience.

May your holiday season be filled with gratitude, connection, and community. Much love to you all ~
